The PhD Program in Architecture and Design is divided into three curricula: Architecture, Design, Naval and Nautical Design.

Target of the course is to face, in an interdisciplinary dimension, the broad domain of the environment and of the tangible and intangible artefacts that define it, having as focal element the design activity understood as a process, and its instruments, the cognitive and operative apparatuses aimed at approaching the new phenomena of change – social, cultural, spatial and material – that influence today’s our daily life environments and their relationship with the society of information and knowledge.

The research structure of the ADD doctorate is defined through one flexible matrix referring to four major thematic area of inter-scalar approach, and crossing (New Urban and Territorial Strategies Policies and Perspectives / Theory of Design / Strategies and Technologies for Sustainability and Systemic / Visual languages and communication).

Associated with these thematic areas are different strands or transversal research lines, which are the focus of the research activities that make up the virtual guiding map of arguments, currently in progress and potentially evolving.
