The lecture focuses on the scientific research methods of the in the built environment discipline- four root disciplines Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture and Sociology and gives a broad overview of different methods and tools.

Firstly, it focuses on methodological and theoretical input alternating with practical examples and exercises.

Secondly, it presents the need and aim to significantly mix methods and tools in urban research -mirroring the interdisciplinary nature of urban space as well showing possibilities of their integration.

The goal is to ensure the access to the -in the built-environment- various disciplines relevant skills and epistemological context for research, but also to showcase practical as therein with concrete examples research tasks and results.
